Upgrading PhishGuard
PhishGuard has built-in support for automatically checking and installing program updates. As program updates are available,
they will be published to the PhishGuard servers for distribution. PhishGuard automatically checks for and updates the required components. Program updates are either automatically checked once per day or they can be manually requested from the 'Check For Updates' screen.
The update process downloads a list of the most recent application components, compares to the versions installed on your computer and downloads the required files. Once the download is complete, you will be prompted to 'Install Program Updates'. Selecting 'Yes', PhishGuard will exit, the program updates will be installed and upon completion, PhishGuard will resume operations. It is recommended that the program updates be installed when available. If you defer upgrading the program, PhishGuard will prompt you to install updates each time PhishGuard is restarted, until the updates are applied.
Configuring PhishGuard for Automatic Updates
| Under the 'Preferences' screen, 'Application Preferences' tab, is an option 'Automatically check for program updates'. Selecting this option instructs PhishGuard to check for updates on a daily basis. De selecting this option disables the automatic check. We recommend selecting this item, so you have the most recent version of the application software.

Manual Check For Updates
| In addition to or in place of the automatic updates, you can periodically manually check for updates. Under the 'Main', 'Program Updates', is a status panel and a 'Check For Program Updates' button. Program updates can be manually checked at most one time per day.
|
| Selecting 'Check For Program Updates' launches the update process and displays the installation update instructions on the screen.
|
Installing Updates
| After manual check for updates or when PhishGuard first starts, PhishGuard will prompt you to install the updates. If you select 'Yes', PhishGuard will exit, install the required program updates, and upon completion, resume normal operations.
|
| After update, PhishGuard resumes normal operations.

Upgrade Details
| For safety considerations, a backup of all upgraded components are copied under the PhishGuard, Updates, Backup directory, in files representing each version. For example, if the PhishGuard.exe program was updated, then the previous version would
be copied into the Backup directory. Refer to the Installation Details section for more information on the PhishGuard directory structure.
