Phishing and other scams are seriously
eroding the world’s faith in the Internet's free flow of
information and commerce. The rapid growth in these attacks, as well
as viruses and worms, is truly appalling.
PhishGuard was founded specifically to counteract phishing scams. We believe that it is
possible to curtail the growth of these exploits by enabling people
everywhere to quickly report suspicious emails and websites. PhishGuard's unique service supports the collective discovery of
Internet-based scams, followed by rapid validation and
dissemination.. The goal is to "inoculate" as many people as
possible against these scams, in the minimum amount of time.
The founders of PhishGuard realized that there was an immediate need for
anti-phishing tools when they observed that many emails from
financial institutions were ideal for phishing attacks
-- they were not personalized, and included links to account login
pages within the emails. Many banks, brokerages, and other
organizations continue to send emails of this sort, directly
contributing to the problem. Rather than wait for legislative or
customer education solutions that may be far in the future, we at
PhishGuard believe that the problem can be managed NOW. The
effective use of technology can deny the phishers a large enough
population of "marks" to make their efforts worthwhile. |
